Aluminium and UPVC Windows and Doors Hampshire

Sash Windows - Traditional Character, Modern Performance, Made in Hampshire

Preserve the character of your property with made-to-measure aluminium and UPVC sash windows, expertly crafted to replicate the elegance of traditional designs.

Sliding sash windows are as much about character as they are about function. On a Victorian terrace, an Edwardian semi or a Georgian townhouse, vertical sliding sashes are part of what makes the building look right. Replace them with the wrong product and something is lost that is very hard to get back.

At Fletcher Fabrications, we manufacture sliding sash windows in both aluminium and UPVC at our Aldershot workshop. Both replicate the traditional vertical sliding action of original timber sashes – but in a modern, thermally efficient, low-maintenance profile that will not rot, swell or require periodic painting. Made to your exact dimensions, in the appropriate style for your property, and installed by our own team.

Aluminium sliding sash windows

Our aluminium sliding sash windows are fabricated using thermally broken slim profiles that closely replicate the sightline widths of original single-glazed timber sashes. This makes them particularly well suited to listed buildings and conservation area properties where planning requires a sympathetic replacement that is genuinely comparable to the original.

Aluminium sash windows achieve excellent thermal performance through thermally broken profiles and high-performance double-glazed units. They are available in any RAL or BS colour – with dark greens, blacks, and greys being the most common choices for period properties – and dual-colour finishes are available.

For listed buildings and conservation applications, we recommend discussing the specification with your local planning authority or conservation officer early in the process. We have supported many successful planning applications and are happy to provide specification drawings and product data to assist.

UPVC sliding sash windows

Our UPVC sliding sash windows offer excellent thermal performance and very low maintenance in a profile that replicates the proportions and vertical sliding action of traditional timber sashes. They are an excellent choice for period properties where the planning context does not require the particularly slim sightlines of an aluminium heritage system.

UPVC sash windows are available in white, cream, grey, anthracite grey and a selection of wood-effect foils including rosewood, golden oak and light oak. The foil finish covers all visible faces of the frame and sash, producing a result that has the warmth of a timber-effect appearance with the durability and low maintenance of UPVC.

For homeowners who want to sympathetically upgrade the windows of a period property without the planning sensitivities of a listed building, UPVC sliding sash windows offer a compelling combination of traditional appearance and practical performance.

Sash windows and planning permission

Replacing like-for-like sash windows on a standard residential property is generally permitted development and does not require planning permission. However, properties in conservation areas may be subject to article 4 directions that restrict window replacement, and listed buildings require listed building consent for any changes to windows. We always advise customers to check with their local planning authority if there is any uncertainty.
